Poster Designing Tips (and Glossary)
• Ensure your design stretches out past the bleed area. This will prevent your poster from having white edges.
• Keep essential information (text and graphic)s you do not want trimmed off inside the safety area.
What is a Bleed Area?
The bleed area is a narrow section around the edge (like a margin on a word document)(*1-3). It is best to ensure your design fills the ‘full bleed size’ as this is the total size of the printed product. However, this area should not include essential parts of the design such as the text.
What is a Safety Area?
The ‘safety area’ is the section of the design that sits inside the bleed area. This is where all your essential information and graphics should be placed.
