New start dates are confirmed for Sydney printing companies to qualify for the Sustainable Green Print (SGP) certificate this August.
The training program, run by the Printing Industries Association of Australia, is the only nationally accredited certificate recognising companies with sustainable business practices.
Ian Walz, the Printing Industries Association's national manager for learning and development, identified "storage and handling of printing chemicals, energy emissions and waste and recycling management" as key program performance indicators.
The SGP program has four levels of accreditation available for companies to achieve, with specific audits created to gain certification.
From everyday operations to management of waste, the certificate evaluates training, resource management and ensures that participating companies comply with course requirements.
Companies could benefit from the certification as it shows a commitment to eco friendly business practices.
It may also add value to their marketing materials or website, as use of the SGP logo is permitted following accreditation.
While the certificate may benefit printers, managers could encourage their employees to adopt environmentally-friendly processes at work.
Using recycled paper for printed documents, separating waste, switching off electronic items when not in use and choosing green business cards, are just a few ways businesses can help the environment.
