Sydney is Australia's best meetings destination

Sydney has been identified as a top global networking destination

Sydney continues to be Australia's top international meetings destination, according to the latest report by the Union of International Associations (UIA).

Business Events Sydney chief operating officer Lyn Lewis-Smith welcomed the news that Sydney is still one of the best places in the world to exchange eco business cards and network at business meetings.

"In this financial year alone, Business Events Sydney has already secured 67 business events, expected to generate $188 million for the economy and we still have an unprecedented number of events in the bid process," she said.

The report examines the number of meetings of international organisations held in business event destinations around the world.

Sydney showed improvement in all the UIA report categories but is not likely to rest on its laurels.

"We continuously work with both the industry and government to further Sydney’s success, particularly in the Asian meetings market, and these impressive rankings will aid us in future bids to secure high profile events here in the city," Ms Lewis-Smith said.

Networkers who plan on meeting international business representatives may wish to get their business cards translated, which can make an excellent first impression.

The only other Australian city to be included in the top 20 list was Melbourne, ranking in 20th place.
