Creative business cards 'help companies stand out'

Personalised notes could help your business cards stand out

A great way for companies to stand out from the crowd is to come up with a unique business card design that differentiates them from their competitors.

Allen Stern, founder of CloudContacts, commented that while some critics would prefer organisations to do away with business cards altogether in the age of smartphones and digital contact lists, traditional cards are still relevant.

Mr Stern commented to Canadian Business magazine that business cards are changing and adapting to meet the needs of an increasingly tech-savvy audience. For example, cards that used to display an office fax number now offer a URL to a Twitter profile, he explained.

The magazine also highlighted the convenience of business cards, as well as the social appeal of the networking exchange - which requires no internet connection and can be personalised with a handwritten message on the back of the card if necessary.

Lifehacker blogger Melanie Pinola pointed out earlier this week that it is important for companies to ensure their business cards leave a memorable impression.

Personalising each card with a note or relevant details could help your contact remember your exchange when they sift through their cards at a later date - and could even boost your business as a result.

Eco business cards are another great way to make an impression, as these can convey a sense of accountability.
