Business cards make a statement about who you are

Recycled business cards project your image

Online advertising media has developed a long way in recent times, but personal branding and career building experts maintain that there is still no substitute for tangible reminders of who you are and what you offer.

Florida-based business and career branding specialist Deborah Shane says that while it is accepted that technology should generally makes things better, faster and easier, that doesn't mean it should take the place of "more personalised connections and relationships".

This is especially the case in the corporate world, where it is essential - and potentially highly profitable - to reach out to prospective customers, contacts or clients in a memorable way.

Shane, the author of Career Transition: Make The Shift, told The Republic's Rex Huppke yesterday (September 13): "Your brand is a value statement about who you are, what you do and what value you bring to your business space or the world.

"A business card is no different than putting up a sign for your business so people can see you from the street. It's a visual representation of your value."

With that in mind, the next step of the process is to ensure that your business card not only represents you in the best light, but that it will actually be noticed in the first place.

While you need to carry some around with you at all times, it is just as important that you hand over an innovative and interesting business card when the chance presents itself.

Making yourself stand out, says Shane, is "one of the most important things we’re all tasked with today".

One method for achieving this goal could be to distribute recycled business cards - not only is it an environmentally friendly option, but it also sends out a positive impression of your company's practices.

A Sydney printing service will be able to help you design and produce effective green business cards.
