11-year-old entrepreneur uses business cards, flyers and posters

Recycled business cards can help networking

No business is too small to benefit from some canny marketing strategies. And in the case of one very young entrepreneur in New Jersey, no business owner is too small either.

11-year-old Robbie Kelly has been running a lawn-mowing business in Chatham since he was nine.

He spoke to the Star-Ledger of his keen interest in researching effective techniques for advertising a burgeoning business. In fact, Robbie employs his nine-year-old brother as sales manager to design flyers and posters, the publication reports.

"He makes them, I approve them," Robbie said.

Robbie also has business cards that read "Green Scaping" in bold green-and-white letters, with his address, phone number, email and website included.

One of his neighbours and clients, Frank Engelkraut said that he happily hands out the business cards to prospective new clients on Robbie's behalf.

When they don't have people voluntarily doing it for them, Robbie and his brother are not shy to spread the word themselves and hand out the cards at any available opportunity.

This is a proactive marketing approach that many business owners would be wise to consider using themselves. Recycled business cards are a fantastic way to get your message out there and at the same time show yourself as a green-friendly business.
