Suggestions that business cards are outdated in today’s networking world have been rejected by a life coach and a successful businesswoman.
"There is no cheaper and better form of guerrilla advertising than business cards," says life coach Bo Blaze.
Chief executive of her own company Melissa Turner says she has noticed recently some businesses have begun to produce brochures and postcards as an alternative to business cards.
But she thinks business cards are still the best way to make a lasting impression.
"It is difficult to hold a handful of these larger items as you continue to network and it is expensive for the person handing them out without knowing if anyone is really interested in their company, " she said.
Mr Blaze advises people create two different cards: a personal card and a special promotional card that is bright and bold and interesting on both sides.
"You want to make sure there is a call to action and even better, a coupon or incentive.
"Buy a big box, keep a bunch on you and your employees at all times and put them everywhere!
"If 4,900 of the 5,000 you order stay in the box till you throw them away, you've missed out on an opportunity. Don't conserve them! Give them out like water."
Mr Blaze also suggests that professionals should regularly create new versions of their business cards.
Eco business cards are one option to consider if you are looking to stand out from the crowd - high-quality recycled business cards can project an image of credibility.
