Business cards can help jobseekers make connections

Business cards can help jobseekers make a good first impression

Jobseekers may wish to brush up on their networking skills, including how to use business cards, resumes and even online tools to help them on their search for a new career.

An event entitled Nite of Networking in Naperville, Illinois is set to help jobseekers maximise their chance of landing their next dream role.

Several experts will be on hand to discuss different ways job searches can be carried out - and could serve as a useful refresher for those who are seeking their first job or are back in the job hunt for the first time in several years.

Business cards, resumes and other networking tools should be carried at all times, as you never know when an opportunity to make a valuable contact may present itself, career coach Eli Amdur asserted earlier this month.

He suggested that a networker's "tool bag" should include a paper copy of their CV, a one-page personal profile, business cards with up-to-date contact information and backup versions of other essential documents - either stored on a flash drive or saved in an email account - in case you need additional copies at short notice.

Recycled business cards are a great way of making a first impression - particularly if you want to project an image of accountability.

Other valuable networking tools recommended by Mr Amdur include a positive attitude and a professional appearance.
