Customised business cards can help an organisation reach an international audience, according to the mayor of one US city.
Speaking to the Quad-City Times, Bill Gluba - the mayor of Davenport, Iowa - said he is bringing business cards printed in Mandarin characters to a leadership event held in Seattle this week.
He had the phrase "City of Davenport - an international city on the Mississippi River" translated and enlisted a printing service to sort out a new order of business cards ahead of the event.
Mr Gluba told the newspaper that he plans to hand out the cards - as well as a fact sheet detailing the city's strength as a transport hub, proximity to major markets and international port of entry, which has also been translated into Mandarin characters - to international delegates from China at the National League of Cities Leadership Academy.
"We may be the only ones there to take the time and show respect by putting our materials in Chinese," he told the newspaper.
Business cards are the perfect networking tool to bring to trade shows and networking events, as they are an easy way of exchanging contact details with fellow attendees and exhibitors.
A printing service can help your firm prepare for an event by getting business cards, leaflets and flyers ready ahead of time.
