Printing services a handy backup when business websites are hacked

Sydney printing services useful when website hacked

At least 4,800 Australian websites have been permanently lost after domain registrar and web host Distribute.IT was broken into and its servers hacked, highlighting the need to keep paper promotional materials onsite.

A statement released by the company today stated: "We regret to inform that the data, sites and emails that were hosted on Drought, Hurricane, Blizzard and Cyclone can be considered by all the experts to be unrecoverable."

Some experts on the subject of data backup have suggested design flaws might be to blame for the magnitude of the disaster - notably a lack of sufficient offsite backups.

Fairfax Media reported the thoughts of IBRS security analyst James Turner, who said: "This could be the nightmare scenario that every small/medium businessperson working on the internet has in the back of their minds."

The attack highlights the benefit of also having hard copy promotional materials for small businesses and individuals relying on websites to market themselves.

Printing services can supply brochures and booklets so that all is not lost in the case of a website emergency. Business cards may also prove useful to avoid an awkward moment when confessing: “Actually the website is down, can I write our details on a piece of paper for you?”
