The impact of a photo on your business card

You may wish to include your Twitter details and other social media information on your business card.

Businesswoman and chief executive Melissa Turner promotes her company via her business card and has gone a step further by including her photo.

"The reason I've done this now is attributed to a coffee meeting I attended with a person I met at a networking event," she explains.

"Unfortunately, the coffee shop was very crowded and I had no clue what the person looked like in order to approach the correct individual. It felt like being on a blind date, not good.

"We finally connected, however I felt the challenge to recognise each other took away from the start of the coffee meeting and added a level of discomfort."

Ms Turner says that one of her top networking tips is to make sure her business cards are not overcrowded but provide exactly what she wants to communicate about her company at that time.

It is also important these days to integrate your business cards with social media profiles and personal websites - you may wish to speak to your printing service about what information is best to include on your card.

"I promote my brand with my company logo on my business cards, website and social media pages, and my company motto," she said.

Her photo is not only on her business cards but on her website page, Twitter and Facebook pages.
