Lawyers at one cutting-edge firm have taken steps to speed up the networking process by incorporating quick response (QR) codes into their business cards.
These symbols, which can be printed on any kind of paper, may then be scanned by card recipients to instantly transfer additional contact details to a smartphone or PDA.
According to Odin, Feldman and Pittman, this new feature - which the firm offers as an option to more than 55 of its attorneys - enhances the function of traditional business cards.
When attorneys' cards are scanned, the recipient has instant access to their biographical information from the Odin, Feldman and Pittman website, as well as the option to transfer their contact details instantly into a device of their choice.
Susan Jacobs, director of marketing for All State Legal, commented: "[Odin, Feldman and Pittman] are one of the first to leverage this technology on business cards enabling the recipient to create an interactive mobile on-line experience to learn more about attorney they just met."
She added that the trend of QR codes on business cards could boost the importance of stationery as a marketing tool.
All marketing materials should offer value to potential customers and clients, one expert recently suggested.
Maureen O'Grady Condon of Precision Marketing Group recently wrote in the Milford Daily News that before enlisting the help of a printing service, companies should take time to define a clear style and tone for all their stationary - including brochures, flyers and business cards.
