
Printing companies across Australia celebrated and supported their colleagues at the annual National Print Awards on May 5th. Now in its 28th year, the industry event was held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour.
Industry guests from all over Australian attended the event, recognising winners in categories such as best printing of annual reports, die-cut presentation folders and postcards.
ProPrint noted that Victorian businesses performed well at this year’s event, scooping the highest number of medals on the night. New South Wales printers secured the most gold medals in the prestigious category.
A report from the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research identifies the need for the Australian printing industry to be aware of changes in the Asia-Pacific region.
In particular the growth of emerging markets such as China and how it could affect the labour force and material supplies.
Other factors affecting the industry involve new technologies available and the growth in digital advertising.
The paper industry in Australia accounts for 41 per cent of total region according to the government report.
Established in 1984, the national event allows printing services to showcase their work in a number of categories for a chance to win an award.
