Professional riders and cycling enthusiasts are gearing up for four days of mountain climbs, teamwork, networking and a real adrenalin rush.
Yes - that's right. The Amy Gillett Foundation Share the Road Tour 2011 is here again this year and will be kicking off in Launceston, Tasmania on Thursday, November 17.
As a corporate riding event participation in the tour is limited to managing directors, chief executive officers, partners and directors of reputable organisations and requires a $7000 donation for entry.
For those who are interested in testing their riding ability there are two groups you can join including sprinters and rouleurs (all-rounders).
The sprinters will ride 60-80 kilometres per day on a smoother course that is designed to test speed.
Rouleurs can expect to complete 120-160 kilometres per day on a slightly different route, which is characterised by physical obstacles such as hills and mountains and will test your will-power, as well as endurance.
Due to the high number of all-rounders this race will be broken into "Jens" - which is known for its high level of difficulty - and "Ullrich" peletons.
During the tour cyclist will get to see the stunning natural landscapes and panoramic views that are well known for their touristic appeal.
After a long day on the road participants may not feel like cooking, however, all meals, drinks, transport and accommodation is catered for by the event organisers.
And while it is fun to really push your body to its limits the tour is also a great way to meet like-minded people and mingle with high-profile professionals.
With this in mind it may be a good idea to make additional business preparations before embarking on the ride.
By consulting a local printing company, you can ensure that the people you meet on the road will stay life-long contacts by handing them a stylish business card.
