Entrepreneurial youngsters are being encouraged to come up with their own companies, make business cards and write business plans at a number of innovative summer camps.
The Associated Press recently featured the Kid Biz Entrepreneur and the Young Business Camps in its feature on summer camps for children in grades two through eight.
Young Business Camps operates a series of age-appropriate week-long events for financially-minded young people, including a Jr Money Matters focusing on business and banking for second and third-graders.
The Colorado-based camp also offers instruction on Running Your Own Biz for older kids in the third and fourth grade, as well as a Be Your Own Boss entrepreneurial boot camp for fifth and sixth graders.
A similar programme is on offer at the Kid Biz Entrepreneur camp run by the University of St Francis in Illinois. Here, kids spend the week putting together a business plan for their new company and making business cards before showcasing the fruits of their labour at a business expo at the end of the week.
It is never too early to start thinking about how business cards could help your career prospects, with one adviser urging university students to enlist the help of a printing service.
Career expert Lindsey Pollack told Fox Business that students may find business cards a useful tool even before graduation, as professionals often automatically assume "everyone has a card".
