Post-secondary students should consider having business cards as they begin their search for their first job - even if they have not graduated yet.
This is according to career expert Lindsey Pollack who told Fox Business that professionals often assume the other people they meet will have a business card.
"If you want to play in that world, you have to have the tools", she commented.
The author of From College to Career: 90 Things To Do Before You Join the Real World added: "It may feel weird as a student, but nobody on the professional side will be surprised at all because we just assume that everyone has a card."
For students, essential business card information includes essential details such as your name, telephone number and email address, as well as extras including your university name, the year you graduate or your field of study.
If you have a professional website or blog, you may also wish to include the URL, while a QR code may show that you have a strong understanding of emerging technology.
You'll also want to consider the type of material used in your cards - for example, recycled business cards could project an image of accountability and professionalism.
