Managing and storing business cards electronically could soon be easier, with Google releasing Goggle 1.4 for users to download this week.
The news coincides with Google I/O taking place in San Francisco - a place for developers around the world to network and learn new trends in the industry.
Users can extract, scan and store data - including business cards - with the new phone application.
The business card recognition function is just one of the many features available from the image recognition app available.
Barcode scanning and translation are other new features available.
CNET reported that the app will automatically recognise business cards as contacts, which will make the uploading of these details easier. Phone numbers and email addresses will then be simpler to add and share.
Companies may wish to take careful consideration when it comes to their business card printing services - such as separating the company name from the logo, as it may be difficult for the scanners to read such details properly.
Including QR codes and a clear call to action in your business card design or layout may present other opportunities for prospective clients to contact you, or find more information.
